In August 2025, Parliament's Environment select committee asked the Commission to provide written evidence on the Report of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, Alt-F Reset: Examining the drivers of forestry in New Zealand.

The role of forestry in meeting Aotearoa New Zealand's emissions targets and how forests are managed are important issues in climate change policy. The Commission has provided a range of advice on forestry issues as they relate to climate change, and this submission draws on the findings of our previous reports.
