About this rohe

Located on the east coast of Te Ika-a-Māui | North Island, the rohe of Te Tairāwhiti is the first place in the world to see the sun rise each day. Te Tairāwhiti comprises relatively large areas of Māori land in multiple ownership.

Case study participants within this rohe include Ngati Porou, Ngā Ariki Kaipūtahi and Rongowhakaata. These case studies explore the specific effects of climate change from an iwi/Māori-led perspective.
