Call for board nominations

The Nominating Committee for He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is seeking nominations for positions on our Commission Board.

We are here because we are dedicated to ensuring we pass on a better Aotearoa to our future generations.

Commissioners provide guidance over our research, policy plans, advice, monitoring and reporting. Our advice will help the Government to set targets, monitor progress towards goals, prepare policies and plans to reduce emissions, adapt to climate change and increase climate resilience.

It’s desirable for Commissioners to hold post graduate qualification(s) across science, economics, engineering, business or other relevant disciplines. It is also expected they will bring a credible reputation as a scientist and/or a distinguished record in an area of leadership relevant to our work including mātauranga Māori, Māori business and the Māori economy.

At this time, there’s particular interest in nominations of candidates with an experience in te ao Māori or the energy/transport sector.

Appointments are for terms of up to five years, with an expected time commitment of approximately 4-6 days per month.

Commissioners are appointed by the Minister of Climate Change, supported by a nominating committee run out of the Ministry for the Environment.

Find out more, and apply, through the Ministry for the Environment website.
