Work With Us

Be part of a game-changing organisation.

Our work makes a difference

Our work is important. The government relies on us to provide it with independent, evidence-based advice to help Aotearoa address and adapt to climate change. We also play a vital role in monitoring the government’s progress on climate related targets.

A diverse team

Because climate change affects every aspect of human life, we need a diverse and vibrant team of people. And we know that diverse teams make better decisions.

Our people come from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and beliefs. We have people from disciplines including economics, marketing, public policy, emissions trading, resource management, physics, engineering, climate science, behavioural science and more.

Our board of eight commissioners come from equally varied backgrounds including adaptation, agriculture, economics, and the Māori-Crown relationship.

What we offer you

We treat our people with respect and care. We provide opportunities for people to grow skills and attributes that serve them well as individuals, managers and leaders – in this job and the next.

We welcome, support and help each other. We focus on building trust and cohesion among our teams. The work we do is challenging, but if you’re up for it, you’ll have a kind and supportive team around you.

We believe in our critical mission for New Zealand, and our people tell us they get a lot of satisfaction from contributing to the important mahi we do here.

With changing times, we offer flexibility to create a balance between the needs of both professional and personal life.
