In 2020, the Ministry for the Environment consulted on proposed settings for the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS). This consultation looked at the Emissions Trading Scheme unit supply and price control settings.
On 28 February 2020, we made a written submission to this consultation.
At a high level, our submission noted that it is encouraging to see the Emissions Trading Scheme being strengthened, but that improvements are needed to provide more transparency and better align the unit supply and price control settings with the legislative objectives and framework.
