Submissions

Explore submissions we've received from the public.

Our work deals with topics that affect all New Zealanders. As part of preparing our advice, we regularly ask for public input into our work to gather new evidence and test our thinking.

Some of the ways we do this are:

  • Calls for evidence – asking people to share evidence that they think we ought to consider as we develop our advice
  • Consultation – asking people to provide feedback on our draft advice and discussion documents

As part of how we share the thinking that went into our work, we publish submissions and evidence we receive (where the authors have given their permission). You can find published submissions on our engagement platform, Have Your Say.

Have Your Say | Closed consultationsNote: some submissions from our 2021 consultation (on what became Ināia tonu nei, our first advice to government) are published here on our main website.

We do not publish submissions where the author has not given us their permission to do so. If a submitter requests it, we will publish their submission with some information removed (for example, if the information is private or commercially sensitive).

However, we may release these submissions in other ways if required to do so by law (for example, in response to an Official Information Act request).

Upcoming consultations

We are currently requesting input to inform our update to our 2024 advice on emissions budgets. Read more.

You can find information about current and upcoming consultations on Have Your Say.

You can also find information about past consultations, including how we responded to the input we received.

Other ways to engage with us

We are always engaging with the public, not just during formal consultations.

If you'd like to share information with us about a particular topic, please get in touch.
